Overview
Word Cards is a Chrome extension that lets you collect etymology trading cards by double-clicking words on any webpage. This privacy policy explains what data the extension accesses, how it is used, and how it is protected.
Data We Access
The extension accesses the following data:
- Wiktionary API — to fetch etymology information for words (public API, no authentication required)
- Selected text on webpages — to detect which word you double-clicked
The extension only processes the specific word you double-click. It does not read, scan, or process any other content on the page.
Data We Store
The following data is stored locally on your device using chrome.storage.local:
- Your card collection (word, etymology data, rarity, timestamps)
- Collection statistics (total cards, rarity counts)
- Extension settings
Data We Do NOT Collect or Share
- We do not send any personal data to external servers
- We do not collect analytics or usage statistics
- We do not track your browsing activity
- We do not share any user data with third parties
- We do not use your data for advertising or profiling
The only network request the extension makes is to the Wiktionary API (en.wiktionary.org) to fetch publicly available etymology data.
Permissions
- storage — to save your card collection and settings locally on your device
- tabs — to open the Lingual Atlas view in a new browser tab
- host_permissions (en.wiktionary.org) — to fetch etymology data from the Wiktionary API for Normal-tier cards
- content_scripts (all_urls) — to detect double-click events on any webpage so you can collect cards from any site
Data Retention
Your card collection is stored only in your browser's local storage. Uninstalling the extension removes all stored data. There is no cloud backup or sync.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date.

アクセスするデータ
本拡張機能は以下のデータにアクセスします：
- Wiktionary API — 単語の語源情報を取得（公開API、認証不要）
- ウェブページ上の選択テキスト — ダブルクリックした単語を検出
拡張機能はダブルクリックした特定の単語のみを処理します。ページ上の他のコンテンツの読み取り、スキャン、処理は一切行いません。
保存するデータ
以下のデータが chrome.storage.local を使用してデバイス上にローカル保存されます：
- カードコレクション（単語、語源データ、レアリティ、タイムスタンプ）
- コレクション統計（総カード数、レアリティ別カウント）

拡張機能が行う唯一のネットワークリクエストは、公開されている語源データを取得するための Wiktionary API（en.wiktionary.org）へのアクセスです。
権限

データの保持
カードコレクションはブラウザのローカルストレージにのみ保存されます。拡張機能をアンインストールすると、保存されたすべてのデータが削除されます。クラウドバックアップや同期はありません。
